Branch History
The Turlock Branch of AAUW was chartered in 1959, after breaking away from the Modesto branch.
In 2009 we joined together again as the Modesto Branch became a satellite with Turlock.
Today members enjoy a variety of pursuits while supporting local women and girls by offering scholarships and sending local girls to Tech Trek camp.
Modesto and Turlock branches will continue to raise funds separately for local scholarships, including Tech Trek. Turlock AAUW welcomes members from Modesto, and we hope to see you at this year’s programs and Interest Group meetings.
AAUW members are welcome to join any of the following interest groups. You may even want to start a new one!
- Be Informed
- Book Club
- Bridge
- Busy Fingers Crafts
- Card and Games
- Cultural Outings
- Lunch and Conversation

AAUW Turlock supports the following state and national programs:
- AAUW Funds, which provides American and international fellowships and community action grants and which also supports women who are suing their colleges and universities because of sexual harassment or denial of tenure.
- Tech Trek, a program providing a weeklong summer camp experience in math and science for eighth girls. In recent years, we have been able to send at least two girls to camp at CSU Fresno.
- Speech Trek, an annual speech contest for high school students.
