About Us

Branch History

The Turlock Branch of AAUW was chartered in 1959, after breaking away from the Modesto branch. Celebrating 65 years in April 2024.

In 2009 we joined together again as the Modesto Branch became a satellite with Turlock. Modesto Branch, 1925 – 2015, celebrating 90 years in September 2015; the satellite branch is disbanded. Secretary minutes of Modesto Branch from 2005 back were stored at McHenry Museum in Modesto, California when Modesto Branch disbanded.

We are now Turlock Branch AAUW with members from Ceres, Hughson, Modesto,  and Turlock.

Today members enjoy a variety of pursuits while supporting local women and girls by offering scholarships at Turlock’s Pitman High School, Turlock High School, Modesto’s Enochs High School, Modesto High School, and Ceres High School. Our branch also sends local girls completing the 7th grade to Tech Trek camp. We have  sent college students, e-members, to NCCWSL through our university partnership with CSU, Stanislaus in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019; we helped send two members of the CSUS Student branch in 2019. StartSmartWorkshop have been held at CSU, Stanislaus for university students in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019.
